Just heard I won the Outstanding Contribution to Pastoral Care Award 2024 from the National Association for Pastoral Care in Education – NAPCE Awards.
I am honoured and thrilled my work has been recognised in this way. But more importantly, it highlights once again that the care of our children in education has to be a top priority for the new (ish) UK government, not to mention around the world. I am currently working in China where the needs of young people are the same as they are everywhere else – for positive connection, acceptance, understanding and joy in learning, all aligned with healthy child development. Focusing on wellbeing from the earliest years onwards will give every child more hope for their future as well as the world we live in. This is not expensive and not impossible. It just takes the belief it matters and the will to do it.

Thanks to Georgina Saralis (she/ her/hers) who nominated me, Frederika Roberts MAPP PGCE BSc(Hons) MPSA who accepted the award on my behalf and to Ellie Costello for her keynote at the conference.
